The SX011828 crossed roller bearing is a compact precision bearing with a 140 mm bore, 175 mm outside diameter and 18 mm width. Its large through-bore and low 1.1 kg mass make it suitable for robotic joints, optical positioning equipment, compact indexers and automated inspection turntables.
An integrated inner ring and circumferentially split outer ring simplify shaft-side installation while providing radial, axial and tilting-moment support in one bearing position. The SX011828 has a dynamic axial load rating of 64 kN and a static axial load rating of 237 kN.
LYDL supplies SX011828 bearings in P5, P4, P2 or application-specific accuracy classes, with clearance or preload selected according to rotational accuracy, rigidity, friction torque and operating temperature.
When replacing INA/Schaeffler or another brand, please provide the complete designation, suffix, drawing and operating requirements. Dimensional similarity alone does not confirm preload, clearance or performance equivalence.
SX011828 Crossed Roller Bearing Overview
The SX011828 crossed roller bearing is a compact, high-rigidity bearing for precision rotary systems requiring a 140 mm central passage. Its dimensions are 140 × 175 × 18 mm, and its approximate mass is only 1.1 kg.
The bearing uses an integrated inner ring and a circumferentially split outer ring. Cylindrical rollers are arranged alternately at right angles, enabling one bearing position to support radial loads, axial loads and tilting moments.
Compared with SX011824, the SX011828 provides a larger through-bore and higher load capacity while retaining a slim 18 mm section. It is therefore a practical transition model for compact equipment that has outgrown smaller SX bearings but cannot accommodate a substantially larger housing.
Load ratings should be used together with the actual load spectrum, duty cycle, oscillation angle, speed, lubrication and required service life. Ratings from different brands should not be combined in one calculation unless their definitions and calculation methods have been confirmed.
Why Choose SX011828?
Compact 140 mm Through-Bore
The 140 mm bore provides space for a hollow shaft, electrical cables, pneumatic lines, optical paths or process media. The 175 mm outside diameter keeps the surrounding housing relatively compact.
High Rigidity in a Slim Section
The crossed roller arrangement supports combined loads and tilting moments without requiring a conventional two-bearing arrangement. This can reduce axial installation length and simplify the rotary assembly.
Low Rotating Mass
At approximately 1.1 kg, the bearing is well suited to servo-controlled mechanisms where acceleration, deceleration and response time are important.
Flexible Accuracy Selection
P5 is suitable for many industrial positioning systems. P4 or P2 may be selected when lower runout is required, but final system accuracy still depends on the shaft, housing, flange and assembly process.
Main Applications
Robotic Rotary Joints
SX011828 can support robot wrist, elbow and auxiliary rotary joints requiring a hollow passage for cables. The designer should evaluate reversing loads, reducer output forces, acceleration and external moment loads.
Laser and Optical Positioning Systems
Its compact envelope and high rigidity make the bearing suitable for optical tables, laser scanning mechanisms and alignment platforms. Precision grades should be selected according to the complete rotational-error budget.
Compact CNC Indexing Units
The bearing can be used in small rotary indexers and auxiliary machine-tool axes. Cutting forces, chuck overhang and workpiece eccentricity must be included in the equivalent-load calculation.
Packaging and Inspection Turntables
SX011828 is suitable for intermittent indexing tables carrying cameras, sensors, fixtures or lightweight products. Clearance or preload should be selected according to repeatability and starting-torque requirements.
SX011828 should not be selected only because its dimensions fit. Confirm the working loads, required life, permissible friction torque, temperature range and surrounding-component rigidity.
Clearance, Preload and Suffixes
Standard SX bearings may be supplied with defined internal clearance or preload. Preload can increase rigidity and reduce elastic movement, but excessive preload may increase friction torque and operating temperature.
Suffixes are manufacturer-specific. In Schaeffler documentation, examples may include RL0 for reduced clearance, VSP for preload and RR for a Corrotect-coated version. An A suffix may indicate a particular design generation and should be confirmed from the original drawing or manufacturer documentation.
Do not remove a suffix from an RFQ. A bearing marked SX011828-A-VSP, for example, should not automatically be replaced by an unsuffixed SX011828.
Replacement and Interchangeability
SX011828 and LRC 14018 may be dimensionally interchangeable references, but functional interchangeability requires further verification.

Mounting Recommendations
The split outer ring must be retained uniformly by a rigid cover or flange. Retaining elements are intended to position the ring and should not be treated as the main structural load path.
A typical reference arrangement may use 24 × M8 clamping screws, but the final screw size, number and tightening torque must be calculated for the customer’s housing and load conditions.
Both mounting faces should be flat, clean and free from burrs. Tighten flange screws gradually in a cross pattern while monitoring rotational torque and runout.
Thin aluminum housings may deform the bearing raceways. Use adequate flange thickness, sufficient screw spacing and controlled fits to prevent local distortion.
Lubrication and Environmental Protection
Standard SX011828 bearings are open and require suitable external sealing if exposed to dust, coolant, moisture or machining debris.
Grease selection should consider speed, oscillation amplitude, temperature and expected service life. Avoid overfilling, because excessive grease can increase torque and heat.
For clean equipment, specify compatible grease and packaging requirements when requesting a quotation.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
LYDL can supply SX011828 in GCr15 or GCr15SiMn bearing steel. Production control may include dimensional inspection, raceway geometry measurement, hardness verification, rotational-torque testing and running-accuracy inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why select SX011828 instead of SX011824?
SX011828 offers a 20 mm larger bore and higher axial and radial ratings. It is appropriate when SX011824 cannot provide sufficient central passage or load margin, provided the 175 mm housing diameter is acceptable.
2. Can cables pass through the 140 mm bore?
Yes. The bore can accommodate a hollow shaft or cable passage, but cable bend radius, moving clearance and protection from grease must be considered.
3. Is SX011828 suitable for a robot joint?
It can be suitable for compact robot joints. Reducer forces, acceleration, reversing loads and the distance between the load center and bearing center must be checked.
4. Can a pulley or gear be mounted directly beside the bearing?
Yes, but belt tension and gear forces create radial and moment loads. The pulley or gear should be positioned close to the bearing whenever possible.
5. Does the 18 mm width make the bearing sensitive to housing deformation?
The slim section can be affected by uneven clamping or insufficient flange rigidity. Flat mounting faces and uniform screw tightening are important.
6. Can an SX011828-A or SX011828-VSP be replaced by a standard SX011828?
Not automatically. The suffix may identify a design generation, reduced clearance or preload condition that affects fit and running performance.
7. Is the bearing supplied with integral seals?
The standard design is open. External labyrinth, contact or non-contact seals should be designed for contaminated environments.
8. What inspection should be requested for an optical stage?
Common requirements include dimensional inspection, radial and axial runout, starting torque and preload verification. The required limits should be stated on the drawing or purchase order.
