RE Series Model Database
The tables cover 48 standard RE base models, from RE2008 to RE60040. RE-H, REV and custom designs require separate specifications.
Data basis: THK Cross-Roller Ring catalogue, 515-1E, pages A18-27–A18-29. These are catalogue reference values for preliminary comparison. LYDL supply dimensions, mounting details, load ratings and availability must be confirmed against the approved LYDL drawing. THK RE model reference.
Symbols: d = bore; D = outside diameter; B = width; dp = roller pitch circle diameter; ds (max.) and Dh (min.) = catalogue mounting shoulder limits. C and C₀ are basic dynamic and static radial load ratings. Dimensions are in mm, ratings in kN and approximate mass in kg.
Selection note: C and C₀ are calculation references, not allowable machine payloads or moment ratings. Evaluate combined loads, required life and static safety. Shaft and housing fits, chamfers, lubrication holes and flange details require a model-specific drawing.
Product Overview
The RE Cross Roller Bearing uses a two-piece inner ring and a one-piece outer ring. It is normally selected when outer-ring rotational accuracy is the priority, commonly with the inner ring fixed to the supporting shaft.
Adjacent cylindrical rollers have perpendicular axes. This arrangement supports radial force, axial force in either direction and overturning moment in one bearing. The RE series forms part of LYDL’s Cross Roller Bearings range.
Structural Features
Split Inner Ring Design
The inner ring consists of two matched sections. Keep these sections together during handling and follow the specified retention arrangement during installation.
Integrated Outer Ring
The one-piece outer ring provides a continuous ring structure for applications prioritising outer-ring rotation accuracy. Installed runout also depends on the shaft, housing and flange.
Crossed Roller Arrangement
Alternating rollers support combined loads. Standard RE designs use spacers between adjacent rollers to reduce direct roller contact and help control friction.
Precision Positioning Capability
Selected clearance or preload helps balance rigidity and running torque. Preload, mounting deformation and operating temperature must be considered together.

THK describes the RE, RB and RU structures in its cross-roller ring product information. Application names alone do not determine which series is suitable.
When comparing RE with XU, XA, XV or XSU, review the exact model’s ring structure, mounting holes, retention method, preload arrangement and load data. Series names alone do not establish interchangeability or a universal rigidity ranking.

Packaging & Shipping
Standard Packaging
Packaging is selected for bearing size and transport conditions. It can include corrosion protection, sealed protective wrapping, cushioning and individual cartons. Larger bearings or consolidated shipments may require plywood cases.
Shipping Options
Courier, air freight and sea freight can be arranged according to destination and shipment size. Confirm the transport method, delivery terms and lead time with the quotation.
Installation & Maintenance
Installation Recommendations
Clean the shaft, housing, bearing seats and flanges; remove burrs.
Verify fits, shoulder limits and chamfer clearance against the approved drawing.
Keep the two inner-ring sections correctly matched and supported.
Apply fitting force to the ring being installed without transmitting it through the rollers.
Tighten flange bolts progressively in a diagonal sequence using the specified torque.
Check outer-ring runout, running torque and rotation smoothness after assembly.
Ring-retaining screws used to keep a bearing together are not substitutes for structural mounting fasteners. Follow the model-specific installation instructions. THK assembly guidance.
Maintenance Guidelines
Monitor lubrication, contamination, temperature, noise and changes in running torque. Set relubrication intervals for the actual duty cycle. Do not mix incompatible greases or attempt to reset factory preload without the manufacturer’s procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which ring normally rotates in an RE bearing?
RE is normally selected for accurate outer-ring rotation, with the split inner ring fixed. This is a selection preference; other operating arrangements require a review of the required accuracy and mounting conditions.
2. Can an RE bearing directly replace an RB bearing of the same size?
Matching d × D × B dimensions are only the first check. RE and RB split different rings, and their shoulder dimensions, retention arrangements and specified rotational accuracy can differ. Confirm both drawings before replacement.
3. Does C0 mean zero clearance?
No. In THK’s RE naming system, C0 is positive clearance, CC0 indicates preload, and C1 is a larger positive-clearance category. Specify the numerical requirement for a LYDL order.
4. Can the load table be used directly as a machine payload limit?
No. The table lists basic radial ratings. Application selection must also consider axial load, overturning moment, duty cycle, static safety and required bearing life.
5. Can a standard RE bearing be mounted directly through its rings?
Standard RE does not have the integral mounting-hole arrangement used by RU. It normally requires a suitable shaft, housing and retaining flanges. Any retaining screws shown on an RE drawing must be identified separately from machine mounting bolts.
6. Does a P2 suffix guarantee P2 tolerances for every dimension?
No. In THK’s RE designation system, P2 specifies rotational accuracy. Dimensional accuracy and the controlled surfaces must be stated separately. Agree the complete inspection limits for the LYDL bearing before ordering.
