K05008XP0 and J05008XP0 are the KAYDON references for LYDL PX5008 open and PX5008UU double sealed, both 50 × 66 × 8 mm.
For a compact instrument cartridge, compare how each configuration reaches its first working rotation. The open option needs a defined lubrication process; the sealed option needs confirmation of the supplied grease and a repeatable resistance check. Select the version before writing the assembly instruction.
Request the LYDL drawing with the cartridge section, motion profile and acceptance requirements. The reference numbers do not certify identical materials or tested performance.
K05008XP0 and J05008XP0 identify the open and double-sealed KAYDON comparison models for LYDL PX5008 and PX5008UU, respectively. Both LYDL versions use a 50 × 66 × 8 mm nominal envelope for a compact four-point contact arrangement.
The practical difference begins before the instrument starts work: PX5008 requires an agreed working-lubrication process, while PX5008UU requires the specified sealed configuration and grease to be identified. Build the commissioning procedure around the selected version rather than treating both as the same part.

See the LYDL metric Type X listing for the catalog grouping. Confirm the actual material, internal setting and lubrication on the supply drawing.

An open PX5008 needs a working lubrication arrangement chosen for the application. Do not assume that the appearance of an oily surface identifies either the lubricant or the intended operating condition. Ask the supplier to state the as-delivered condition and agree any cleaning or lubrication steps before assembly.
Document the working lubricant, application method and assembly stage. Establish any controlled quantity during qualification rather than copying a fill amount from another bearing.
Plan access before closing the cartridge. A service opening that cannot be reached once the optical or measuring head is installed will not support the intended maintenance procedure. Conversely, a removable cover can expose the raceway to debris if the service sequence is poorly controlled. Review the actual tools, surrounding surfaces and handling steps with the assembly team.
For PX5008UU, confirm the delivered grease and any permitted servicing procedure. Do not remove integral seals or add lubricant simply to reproduce the open-bearing assembly steps. Link the version, lubricant and resistance test to the same drawing revision.
Request a PX5008 application and drawing review.
The following values describe KAYDON K05008XP0 and J05008XP0, not certified LYDL performance.
| Catalog rating | Dynamic | Static |
|---|---|---|
| Radial | 4,511 N | 5,443 N |
| Axial | 6,531 N | 13,621 N |
| Moment | 98 N·m | 158 N·m |
These limits are not simultaneous. The dynamic basis is one million revolutions of L10 life; static values assume rigid ring support. Obtain the LYDL rating basis before calculating application life. The LYDL series table labels force capacities in “kg”; this page does not silently reinterpret those entries as newtons.
For the sealed J05008XP0 reference, Kaydon lists 1500 rpm at loads up to 20% of dynamic capacity, and 0.04 N·m maximum no-load torque with standard internal fit and lubricant, at room temperature under 5 lbf thrust. These are conditional reference figures, not unrestricted limits for the supplied LYDL bearing.
Consider a small carrier that rotates a sensor or test component inside a bench instrument. The 50 mm bore is the bearing seat, not the finished clear aperture; the hub, fasteners and wiring occupy some of that space. Prepare a section through the complete carrier before assigning clearance for a cable or light path.
Map the forces introduced by the instrument itself. A spring-loaded contact, clamp or cable can produce a load even when the carried part is light. Identify its point of application and how that force changes as the carrier rotates. Include both the measurement position and the loading position in the review.
The carrier concept is an example for engineering evaluation. It does not imply a specified instrument accuracy or a validated customer installation. Performance should be measured at the sensing or inspection location, where the effects of the entire assembly are present.

Establish a baseline using a defined fixture and test method before installing the bearing into the cartridge. Then repeat the relevant check after fitting the hub, after seating the outer ring and after securing the cover. Record each stage instead of relying on a final hand-feel judgment.
If resistance changes when the cover is tightened, inspect the cover contact and axial stack before changing lubricant. If the change appears when a hub is inserted, inspect the seat and the specified fit. These observations help narrow the investigation; they do not by themselves establish which part is defective.
Keep measuring loads consistent. A result obtained with a cable hanging from the carrier cannot be compared directly with an unloaded bench result. Document whether the coupling, drive and external contact mechanisms are connected. Where alignment is adjustable, record the setting used for sample acceptance so that production can reproduce it.
Use PX5008 — Open and PX5008UU — Double Sealed for LYDL purchasing. The corresponding KAYDON references are K05008XP0 and J05008XP0, respectively.
KAYDON K means steel construction without seals or shields; J means steel construction with two nitrile seals. X identifies four-point contact, P a standard snap-over separator, and 0 Kaydon class 1 / ABEC 1F. These codes do not certify the LYDL configuration.
Read other-brand codes in their own catalog. INA / Schaeffler CSXU050-2RS has a 127 mm bore: “050” is not a 50 mm seat identifier. NSK’s inch-design NBX family uses DD for seals on both sides. These examples explain naming differences; they do not qualify a replacement for this instrument cartridge.
Agree a small set of measurable acceptance items rather than asking for a generally smooth bearing. Possible items are cartridge runout, rotational resistance and response at the measurement position. Specify the fixture, temperature and measurement direction with each limit.
For a first batch, retain one complete build record linking the bearing identification, lubricant and assembly settings. Photographs of the assembly stages can support the written procedure, but they do not replace dimensional results. Identify which changes require a new trial, such as a different cover, grease or internal bearing setting.
Ask for packaging appropriate to the time between receipt and assembly. Protect either version during handling. Label open and sealed samples separately so the commissioning record follows the actual configuration.

Use separate steps where the construction differs. Confirm whether the open bearing needs preparation and working lubricant, and identify the sealed bearing’s supplied grease. Do not treat preservation oil as operating lubricant or remove seals without an approved procedure. Both instructions should specify the first-run acceptance check.
Record resistance before and after each assembly step using the same fixture. A sudden change after fitting a cover directs attention to clearance and clamping, while other patterns may require a wider investigation. Inspect the assembly before adding more grease as a trial remedy.
No. It establishes the bearing bore and normally mates with a hub or shaft. Determine the remaining passage from the complete assembly, including wall thickness, retainers and moving services. Keep optical or cable clearance separate from the bearing-seat dimension.
Provide the angular travel, frequency, dwell periods and external loads throughout the stroke. Also describe storage and restart conditions. A short motion description is needed for lubrication and acceptance planning; continuous-rotation duty should not be assumed from the catalog reference.
Choose the measurement that controls the instrument requirement, supported by a repeatable test method. Establish its limit during engineering validation rather than copying the best result from one sample. Retain the approved setup so later batches can be evaluated consistently.
A larger instrument cartridge may require the 80 mm pair; a retrofit with a different seat may lead to the 110 mm pair. Compare the complete interfaces before changing size.
